Russian Embassy Chess Open 2007
A total of 19
players participated in the 1st Russian Embassy Chess Open on Sunday,
the
17th of June 2007. The event, which was by invitation only, was held at the
Russian Cultural Centre along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is one of
the official events to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Malaysia.
Dato' Tan Chin Nam, the father of Malaysian Chess, graced the event by playing a
quick game with P.L. Goncharov, Charge
d’Affairs a.i. of the Russian Federation to Malaysia.
The event,
which was jointly organised by the Embassy of Russia in Malaysia, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture
(RCSC) (Kuala Lumpur) and Kids for Chess Program, was won by Tham Tick Hong. The
final results are given below:
